I'm a consumer that matches the "pre-existing investment in a high-end flagship router" category. Though I am chomping at the bit to upgrade to a mesh network.
But still, I'll be waiting for the second generation mesh products that will hopefully incorporate the new Bluetooth mesh as well. One set of devices for WiFi mesh and Bluetooth mesh will be great.
What would be the ideal Netgear router to pair this with? I currently have the X6S AC3000 (R7900), but Netgear has other that I can't decipher whether they contain newer tech that is more optimal for this new range extender: - X6 AC3200 (R8000) - X6S AC4000 (R8000P) - X8 AC5000 (R8300) - X8 AC5300 (R8500)
If my router is only dual-band, am I out of luck regarding the direct link backhaul option? Basically, will the Extender connect to the router via router's lone 5GHz band and then any client that uses 5GHz can only connect to the Extender's second 5GHz band?
