Should be more than adequate to handle Kaveri or upcoming Haswell i3. I am not sure about the thermals for anything more than that. What about CPU fans that meet the ITX requirements like the Noctua NH-L9, can they be fitted in?!

Gigabyte actually made one that supports a 200W GPU, it's just really huge and expensive. And you can look at http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1588463 for an example of someone who has created their own "slim ITX" case from scratch.
The components for a high-end gaming PC all easily fit on the back of a 23" monitor. Requires mini-ITX and a small Silverstone 450W SFX12V PSU (or 1U, or custom form factor) to handle the GPU, but you are not space limited. Not even by a 12" graphics card. So then it's just a matter of making a custom case that has an LCD panel mounted inside, like the one in this article. Then adding slim (15mm thick) 140mm fans that ramp up when the system is under load.
There's no reason we can't have an slim AIO that supports a dGPU and eventually a 200W dGPU.
