Terrorism is always a sad, terrible thing, but the numbers are (on an absolute scale) so low, that you never really expect it to touch you personally.
While I've never lost anybody personally, I know of some people who have been around acts of terror and it isn't something that you ever want happening to anyone. Thoughts and prayers are out to all of those affected at Purch and beyond.
My then employer had a large office in World Trade Center on 9/11. I have lost work colleagues. My condolences to Bruno's wife, Martina, and their children are sincere. Such a loss also affects co workers. i
Oversimplified, the Urban Dictionary correctly identifies the word "Partner", as used in the article's first sentence, as a slang term for homosexual. Ryan, did you intend to focus the article on Bruno's sexual preferences? Do you feel political correctness is more important than acknowledgement of the loss and expression of condolences? Use of such a loss as a celebration of political correctness is offensive to significant portions of the US.
In this particular case, it's not political correctness. He was with the mother of his children, apparently they weren't married. 'Girlfriend' doesn't really project the seriousness of their relationship, as evidenced by several children together, but 'wife' isn't what she was.
"Partner" is also used about heterosexual (sometimes married, often unmarried) couples.
Since the article goes on to state that their son was yanked away by his mother, I'm not sure where you're getting the assumption that the partner was a man from.
They probably used the word partner because he was not married. I also dislike the term, it removes any emotions and makes people faceless, like talking about robots... Condolences to the family and his coworkers, it is a sad sad thing to lose a life.
I'm from barcelona and I have friend that were there in that moment, my condolences to her partner. I can't really understand the fanaticism that converts people in those monsters
I am terribly sorry for your and your colleagues' loss. I hope Bruno's family will somehow be able to find peace among this nightmare. I also hope it was the last such tragedy to hit Europe, though I doubt it.
Rest in peace Mr. Gulotta. And fuck you Ryan for making money on the back of a dead colleague.
Your company is banned for life. This is not newsworthy, this article is as low as it gets in journalism. Maybe you have some pictures of his family you want to share with us?

Er... even the sentence that the word partner is used in talks about the children's mother. I don't think this is the right place for that.Oletros - Saturday, August 19, 2017 - link
Perhaps the word used is partner because is not his wife, it is his partner. But yes, don't feed the troll

I think you misunderstood the piece."Partner" is also used about heterosexual (sometimes married, often unmarried) couples.
