Not just 'gimped' HDR: none of those displays are HDR in the slightest little bit outside of their marketing material.
But what's worse is they report themselves to a host machine as being HDR, so will happily accept a HDR signal and then display it on their 100% SDR panels, i.e. display it wrong, which means anyone buying one will need to manually force (if that is even possible, consoles may be an issue) the host device to output SDR just to get a correct image! This is exactly the same bullshit that was pulled in the days of "1080p capable" displays that reported themselves as 1080p, accepted a 1080p signal, and displayed it on a 960x540 panel.
They probably should be resized with the originals in a separate gallery, but I'd rather deal with this than companies who only provide a 200 pixel wide thumbnail to go with their announcement.
I thought we'd gone past the days of nonsense 'dynamic contrast' numbers. This isn't a 'sponsored post', so I expect better of Anandtech than to parrot marketing BS unchallenged.
Acer already has a 270hz IPS 1440p monitor... for half the price. Get the non-gsync version now instead of waiting 6 months for the overpriced gsync one.
The Acer Predator X27 is one of the first G-Sync HDR displays and checks every box you could ask for. Despite some bleeding-edge quirks and a sky-high price, it's still the ultimate in gaming monitor

Both the PS4 and PS5 can turn off HDR at a system level. But whoever is thinking of buying these monitors for playing games should get a 55CX instead.Cellar Door - Thursday, January 7, 2021 - link

LOL. 100,000,000:1 contrast... but we can only rate it for HDR 400. Sure, sure, I'm sure that contrast is real. Good grief...edzieba - Friday, January 8, 2021 - link

Point is the Predator monitor is the same thing but almost $500 more for the Gsync module for no reason. $679 is better...rynomuncher - Thursday, January 7, 2021 - link
I hope the X27 gets refreshed with HDMI 2.1 sometime soon. It's my ultimate monitor but just can't justify it with the bandwidth problemsinperfectdarkness - Thursday, January 14, 2021 - link
