I was hoping for a retina display on the new MBA, but this is still a very reasonable update. The fact that it will be one of the first of its class to market with Ivy Bridge is fairly impressive. What ever happened to Apple being a launch partner with Intel anyhow? So many companies beat the new MBA to the punch by announcing products last week at CES, but looks like Apple will be the first to ship in volume. I thought that back in '05 or whenever the Intel switch went down that Apple seemed like they were going to be riding the wave of both announcements and products. Strange.

they're no longer shipping PCs with 2GB of soldered-one RAM.

Too bad about the displays, though, seems like they've been beaten to the punch by Asus & Co.

    Were they though?

Given the length of Apple product cycles then yes, they were; unless Asus fail to launch within the next 6 months.

Will you review the 2012 models? Perhaps it is not worth it since the new Air isn't even an evolutionary update compared to the 2011 version. Still it would be good to have a trusted review since there are quite a few so-called reviews out there with rather varying results.

    Cheers
